Sad news today from the San Bernardino County Fair.

Sabrina Gordon, a 31 year old woman from Hesperia, CA has died after falling 36 feet and hitting her head on the scaffolding of the free falling fair attraction called FreeDrop USA. Emergency crews were at the scene in less then an minute and the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronouced dead just after midnight on May 29.

FreeDrop USA is a fair attraction that has recently made appearances at county and state fairs across the county. Participants jump and free fall from a 20, 28 or 36 ft platform onto a cushioned mat at the bottom. FreeDrop USA recently appeared at the Maricopa County Fair in Arizona and is scheduled for the upcoming Central Wyoming Fair July 3-11. This is the first recorded incident involving the attraction.

“Safety is our top priority; the ride will be closed pending a thorough investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department” San Bernardino County Fair CEO and General Manager Geoff Hinds said.

The San Bernardino County Fair is on now until Sunday, May 31.
