The 2014 Texas State Fair ran from Sept 26 for three weeks until Oct 16th in Dallas, Texas. This years Texas State Fair turned out to be bigger and better than ever. The 2013 Texas State fair was considered the biggest in north america with over 2.5 million in attendance with predictions that 2014 will have an even larger attendance. One could definitely say that everything is bigger in Texas, especially when referring to the Texas State Fair.
The 2014 Texas State Fair featured over 80 musical performances including talented headliners such as The Swon Brothers, Fantasia, Lucy Hale, Kool & the Gang, Siggno, Kyle Park, Becky G and Collective Soul. There are also a number of smaller stages featuring a variety of musical genres. The Red River Music Festival that is on in conjunction with the Texas State Fair features a ton of great country acts such as Jason Boland and the Stragglers and the Casey Donahew Band.
If you were a foody who enjoys fried delicacies then the 2014 Texas State Fair would not have disappointed. Some of the featured fried foods at this years fair were fried Nutella, King Ranch casserole, and chicken-fried meatloaf. The fair is only on for three weeks a year so its not every day you can enjoy these dishes! Aside from the expected greasy fair food there was also a huge variety of Texas BBQ throughout the grounds that was definitely worth checking out.
Overall between the musical performances, fair food, Texas Style BBQ, Midway Rides, Livestock Competitions and a million other activities happening throughout the grounds the Texas State Fair is always worth attending for at least one day a year. The 2014 Texas State Fair was a huge success!
